I don't know anything about how you can get started, but I do know that Nicole C. Mullen (her music is awsome) posts on her message board and maybe you could ask her on that. I hope I have helped in some way or another.

Hey girl
The best way to start is to pray that God would open A door for you and if it is his will for you to sing. But I know that you need to pray because God is just and faithful to anser and if it is his will he will open a door, he did with me but your life has also need to reflect Christ. Don't lose faith and if it is his will you will know how to start

Bianca,

I was in your same situation when I was a little younger. I don't know if it's possible for you or not financially, but you should really try to see if you could set something up with a voice teacher or something. That is what I did, and I learned so much. If you can't do that, see if you can talk to one of your music teachers at school to see if they could listen to you and give you a few pointers every couple months. The rest is then up to God and he will lead you in the right direction. Smile

Do you know any musicians? If you sing, you need to figure out who's going to play this or that. Maybe you can get a guitar player, bass player, drummer and even someone to play keys and see if you can work up a ton of different songs (the more variety the better) and try to get some local gigs. You need to get involved in the musical community where you live. You may need to step out of your comfort zone and find out if there are some local bands performing, and go where they're at and make yourself known to them. Get involved!! Pray that God will hook you up with some incredible musicians and singers where you can learn the nuts and bolts of music and glean fron their skills. Or you can make a killer demo and a professional photograph and send it out everywhere. Just so they can put a face to the voice they're hearing. It's a tough business, but don't give up. If you do an awesome job and you're led by the Lord, someone's bound to discover you. Or create your own website...

Thanks! God has blessed me. I just had a desire to use the gifts God gave me and I prayed about it. God then hooked me up with some of the most awesome musicians. And the thing that's even greater is their hearts. They truly love God and want to use their gifts for Him too. Everyone is a ten at something. I believe that every person on this earth has something to offer the world. You just have to ask God to show you, not only what it is, but how He wants you to use it. It really is that simple. He'll give you the blueprint and he'll put you in the right place at the right time. Just walk in faith and be willing to obey.
It's so exciting. Can you tell I'm excited?!

Well... first I am a licensed Esthetician with training in Swedish Massage. So during the week I help people with their skin, waxing, body treatments, makeup, ect. And on the weekend, I sing (mostly praise and worship with occasional gigs). So my ten is probably encouraging people. I love to help people feel better about themselves and get closer to God. I was raised as a pastor's kid, which was bittersweet. So music became my magic carpet. It's one of the many ways I worship God and a way I express what I'm feel about what's happening in the world. I love songs about social issues and unabashed humanity.
What about you? What's your "ten"?

Wow that sounds like a lot of fun. It sounds like you love what you do! I'm glad SOMEONE has a 10 in encouraging ppl lol! I am so not a people person so I can't say anything having to do with interaction is my 10...I just graduated from high school and am either going into the military or to college. It's looking like college. My ten though...well, I took voice lessons for about 4 years, sooo...music is my thing...when I'm by myself that is. I can't sing in front of either people. I have the worst case of stage fright that is humanly possible.

That's great! I have a lot of respect for people in the military. A lot of men in my family have served in the military. What branch?
Oh... as far as stage fright is concerned, I used to have that a lot. The way I got over it is I learned to. focus on the ones that are smiling and getting into it. Now, I no longer have a problem with people's faces or whether they clap or not. I had an experience where I was leading worship the church I was at, and there was this woamn that came to the first service every Sunday and sat in the third row. She always had a horrible look on her face, never clapped, barely sang and it made me so nrevous and uncomfortable. (At that time, if not everyone clapped or stood I was disappointed). Then one Sunday she came up to me and told me that every Sunday she cries, and that she appreciates what I do so much. Then she said she was putting together a fashion show and wanted me to do the music. That changed me forever on how I see a crowd. After that, I promised the Lord that I would never complain. I will just do what God wants me to do and trust Him with the results. You have to get up there and say to yourself that it was God that arranged this group of people before you and believe that they are going to like what they hear and see.

That's a great lesson to learn. I think we all come to that point sooner or later where it's like Boom, it hits you...and you finally get it, and you are not afraid to be on stage anymore. I'm hoping that it'll be like that for me, that one day something will just click and I can do it. I really really hope that it's not a looong learning process,...because I love to sing, but I just loathe getting on stage. I realise that the reason I hate it so much is because I am singing for myself...I worry so much what other people think when really, when it comes down to it, it's all about Him. I try so hard to focus on Him, but it's not so easy when so many people are focused on you. I almost feel like God has given me this gift that I don't know how to use very effectively. I really respect the fact that you can get on up there and sing, and more importantly sing for Him, and let Him use you as His tool.

Lol, I don't understand it, I be excited and not afraid to go to boot camp, but terrified to sing in front of people. Anyways, my grades qualified me for naval intelligence (nuclear field), so that was what I was going to get into. Not so much physical work, but a lot of thinking, and using very very advanced technology. I think I might just go to college though first, what could it hurt? I want to be as close to Nashville as I can get! Wink Either that or Florida...We'll see.

Thanks for the replies btw!

That is so exciting! Congradulations! That's quite an accomplishment. Like I said, I have so much respect for people that give their lives to serve the country. Especially now, when there is a good chance that you'll be sent. You mustbe incredibly smart. That's great that you're using it for the good of the nation. Thank you for doing it. What exactly would you do in the nuclear field? That sounds pretty intense.

I know it's funny that you're more afraid to sing in front of people that of your drill instructors. You know what? When you're out there working harder than ever in your life, think of that. You can always say to yourself that it could be worse. I could have to sing in front of them. LOL!

Yeah, it's cool chattin' with ya.

I'm really not sure what I would be doing in the nuclear field because it is all intelligence/top secret stuff...and I can't even know until I start!! Lol, kinda funny when I think about how I don't even know what I'm getting into! Razz...(I think it would be easier to sing in front of drill sergeants than a church congregation, well MINE anyways, they don't clap, smile, say "amen" or nuttin!! it's like c'mon gimme sommtin to work wit heah!)

I think we are the only ones on this board that Absolu' (by the way, how did you come up with that name?)...oh well, when ppl start flooding in after Ms. Lampa's been out for lil while longer, we are gonna be the matriarchal founders of this site. Hmph...Big Grin

How did you hear about Rachael?

There is a great spa that's called Absolu. And since I'm an Esthetician...well...I don't know. I thought it was cute.

I know, we're the only ones left here. I think people on this site only like juicy gossip. Normal conversation is such a bore. LOL! Maybe we should start something more contraversial.

The first heard of Rachael a few years ago. She's got an incredible voice. I've never seen her perform, though. Have you? The last Christian concert I went to was Salvador. I absolutely loved Joanne Rosario. I liked what she had to say. I'm kinda burned out on Salvador's songs. I heard them so much and I couldn't believe they came out with a greatest hits CD, or deluxe version. Too much of a good thing is not good.

I agree, we should definately start something controversial haha....or else just make a new thread entitled "juicy gossip" lol...I'm sure that would reel some new people in.

Anyways, no..I have never seen Rachael preform or anything like that. I guess what really made me start listening to her music and become a fan is because it is so hard for girls/women (whichever) her age to find a place to fit in the business that she is in. Everyone is pushin for more skin, more and more risky things, because THAT is what sells. I respect Rachael so much because she is forging her own way and resisting what society is telling us you know?

Actually, I just heard about Rachael a little while ago...maybe half a year ago I really started listening more.

Hmmm..the last Christian thing I went to was the Always Sisters Conference in Nashville hosted by Cece Winans (I'M A HUGE FAN OF HERS.)...that was the end of October. Of course, the highlight of the whole thing though was finally being able to meet Nicole Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin who I admire and respect sooooooooo much and just love her more than anything.

I'm so hooked on the whole gospel thing now...lol, I never thought I would like it or get into it, but I am so so hooked..

I have never heard of Salvador (except from on here) and have never heard any of their songs or anything. Tell me a little about them if you can...like who are they? guys? girls? age? type of music?
