Okay, there was an article in our local paper today about Jessica's new video "these Boots Are Made For Walking". It said that christians are up in arms over the video because it is raunchy. Jessica's father said that his girls wore bikinis and short shorts when he was a youth pastor and people in the church used to get mad back then. He believes it's what's in the heart that matters, not what they are wearing. Do you agree? Is the video as raunchy as Paris Hilton's Carls jr. commercial? I haven't been tooned to Vh1 or MTV so I haven't seen it yet.

our dress attire is the testimony we give to people. that's what they see first. we wouldn't wear bikini's to church and praise God, so why wear them anywhere else? of course her dad would say that...there's nothing more to excuse her actions. it's too bad nowadays we are confusing the secular world. our bodies are temples of God, so we should represent God always.

Amen Joanna and Smilie; the Lord says that the world will know we are Christians by our love. I strongly believe that one of the ways we love each other, especially our brothers in Christ, is by dressing in such a manner that would not tempt them to lust or think impure thoughts.

The Bible says we are to remain unstained from the world; when I think of wearing seductive clothing, the last word that comes to my mind is "Pure". I believe "Pure" is exactly how the temple of the Holy Ghost ought to look.

Indeed, how we look on the outside should simply be an expression of what's on the inside.

Of course, everyone's opinion differs on what is pure and acceptable and what is not, so I pray:
Lord, please give all those who call on Your name the discernment to know how You would want them to dress; then please give us the strength and the grace to carry it out. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Blessings in the Lord

Isn't our ACTIONS just as important of a testimony? How we act and treat others? I don't think Mr. Simpson said his daughter wore bikini's TO church. She probably wore them to the pool or the beach. Haven't any of you gone swimming before?

Anyway...I agree with Mr. Simpson 100%. It' what's in the heart and your INDIVIDUAL relationship with GOD that matters.

Who are we to judge?

no,no,no i did understand what mr. simpson said. i am not judging anyone either, all i am saying is that bikini's aren't right. i've gone swimming, but i wear surf shorts and a tank top, because i am representing God. sorry for the confusion...God bless you.
p.s. people don't see your heart first, they see what you are wearing, and unfortunately people tend to judge, so we need to use our own judgment.

Okay, what about all the dresses Jessica's been wearing. When she started out in the business, she was the most modest of all the blondes. Now she just lets her breasts hang out. I don't care of she is big busted. She needs to cover them up-lest she likes to turn men on. Our brothers don't need to stumble by lusting after her. The fact that her former youth pastor father doesn't see anything wrong with what she wears is shocking. Quess their idea of modest(which the Bible says is how a christian woman should dress) is different from mine. I also don't think bikini's are modest. So it really doesn't matter where she wore them-beach, church or anywhere else. If it is going to cause a guy to stumble leave it at the store. I have always believed that what you wear on the outside shows people what is on the inside.

sorry, i disagree with the above "opinion". who cares what she's wearing, let her deal with the consequences later on down the line. who are we to say what people can wear or not wear. again, i'll say this, what's your INDIVIDUAL relationship with God? That is more important than what i'm wearing. i don't get dressed in the morning thinking, "am i going to make someone stumble today?"

i respect your OPINION, i just don't agree with it.

the way I dress has everything to do with my relationship with the Lord. The bible says modest, so I dress modest. I do care if I cause a brother to stumble- I have heard too many men complaining about what women wear-Christian men-just read one guys blog-he basically said-"stop dressing that way ladies . It is causing us to stumble by making us think lustful thoughts." Take it up with him! You have the right to disagree, just like I have a right to disagree with your comments.

hrmm...

what is considered modest? You may not be comfortable wearing a bikini.. but maybe I am... I may be comfortable wearing a spaghetti string top.. and you may think that's a bit immodest... who's to say... if I'm comfortable.. and don't have a problem with what i wear... why should anyone else tell me what I can/can't wear... some people think (in other parts of the world) that women should be clothed fully from head to toe... because of modesty... who's to say they are wrong.. and we are right.. or they are right and we are wrong...

I think personal convictions are different for each person and we shouldn't criticize what others are wearing....

now completely OT.. I can't stand the way JS butchered TBAMFW... *puke*.. she needs to stay away from country music... and I'm certain she and her hollywood culprits ruined TDOH.. but that's JMHO.

"stop dressing that way ladies . It is causing us to stumble by making us think lustful thoughts." (Cinnamon post)

I'm sure this guy is not held responsible for his own "stumbling" it's how we dress right?

"I think personal convictions are different for each person and we shouldn't criticize what others are wearing" (BIZ post)

Amen BIZ, couldn't agree with you more.

I agree. Well said. We shouldn't really attract attention to ourselves by showing off our bodies in raunchy ways. We should represent ourselves as the body of Christ.
