Perfect answer. It seems to me like you have your thoughts very clearly constitutionized. That's good for you, but here was what I've been trying to get the pople to think about, if someone easily follows a worldly trend (and ear piercing is definately one of them)doesn't it make someone more bulnerable to other worldy trends that aren't passing as "ok to do"? I mean, it's those type of things, like ear piercing, that makes people more and more liberal into adapting to this world and not caring how undecent one may become just to do so. And, by know, everyone should know that trends only get worst and worser by the minute.

I can answer your question about ear piercings Smile. I have come from a background of a legalistic mentality and was not allowed to pierce my ears, wear makeup, pants, or cut my hair. God has thankfully delivered me from this mentality. (and trust me if you're from this background, when you get out you know you've been delivered!) I have not left God and He has not left me, I'm just no longer under a legalistic mentality.(Does that make since?) Anyway, I said that to say this. If not careful it is SO easy to make Heaven or Hell issues over things not specifically stated in the Bible. But I believe I serve a loving God who would be clear about things that would send us to Hell. I know that there are several things in the Bible that are not mentioned that we know are wrong (aka drugs, revealing clothing) but we know those things have consequences. Piercing your ears does not have consequences (unless you are of the age where your parents can still tell you what to do or what not to do, and they have said not to pierce your ears, because then you have disobeyed your parents and that IS Biblically wrong.) I believe that it's up to yourself whether or not you want to have your ears pierced, guy or girl. I'm a girl and I have my ears pierced. It's not about being worldly, it's about something that I like and makes me feel like I look nice. I love jeweley. If a guy likes his ear/ears pierced and it makes him feel cool/nice, then he should NOT be condemned because someone _thinks_ it's worldly. It's not like he's wearing a girl's pearl necklace Smile (That would be really odd.) God knows our hearts and He knows our spirits. People can judge on the outside, but they can't see what's on the inside. We as Christians sometimes like to play God and condemn people for what we think is wrong. We are wrong for that. Why are we so judgmental anyway? Does it make us feel good? God says not to judge. Isn't that the bigger issue? I hope I've not offended anyone, but I had to respond. God has taught me a lesson on legalism. Have a blessed day, yours in Christ.

Hm...why don't someone (if possible at all) ask the guys in Salvador why they pierced their ears and see what they have to say. It's always good to hear what other people's views are - especially those who have experience on a certain area. I believe that each has his or her own convictions and beliefs on these minute things. I guess most importantly - our one common belief should be that we believe in Jesus and we know that He loves us - ears pierced or not! Smile Wink

Salvador Freak, I understand what you're saying. I come from a Spirit-filled/Pentecostal church and I believe that when we're walking in the Spirit we're supposed to have discernment in what we are to do and not to do. That's one of the reasons being Spirit-filled is so important. I believe that when the Bible says not to be of this world it means spiritually. We are not to sin as sinners do, we're supposed to live as Christ did. When we live our lives letting Christ shine through us it doesn't matter what trends are in and what trends are out. That's all they are is trends. If the trend is sin, then we are to obstain. If it's not sinning then I believe you should be able to dress (modestly)/ look however you like.

OOOH....nice answer. That sounds like something that would have come from my pastor at church. For a long time, my brothers struggled with the same thing. I believe it's all in WHY you do it...what's the MOTIVE? I know that God knows what we do as well as WHY we do them. I also like what bedia said about not causing yourself to stumble. I think it's also important to keep in mind that if you don't cause your BROTHERS/SISTERS in Christ to stumble by doing so (a huge mistake as a Christian), then what's the harm? It only takes one Christian brother/sister to stumble.....I have to ask....what does your heart tell you? If you've already received an answer from the Holy Spirit, then you know what to do.

I'll be straight up honest... I only read about half of the posts, but from someone that has both of her ears peirced and another piercing in the top of my left ear AND a tattoo on my the inside of my right ankle (It's the Chinese symbol for "Joy") I find nothing wrong with any of these things. However, when it comes down to it in my mind, if things like that begin to seperate you from God and distract you from living for him in everything that you do, then it becomes a problem. Am I wrong about this?

I just think that if you have to question it, don't do it! When the Holy spirit speaks to you then there will be no doubt and you're going to know it's the right thing, so if your questioning it don't do it. Pray about it and ask God for guidence. Anyway what's the big deal with piercings? I personally don't like them on guys and don't even have my ears pierced and I'm a girl!

Well said. Yeah, I agree with you Nadine. If we're ever in doubt about anything, seek God first, then seek godly guidance. Just be obedient to God, that's most important!
