I noticed that some Salvador band members had one or both ears pierced. More than once have I heard from my youth counselors that those type of things are bad. But if an anointed band can do it, why can't we? After all, they ARE setting an example to everyone who follows their music ministry. What do you guys think about piercings? Doesn't the bible state that we are a temple of God? Im a little confused, so if you guys can help me out, I'll apreciate it very much

Hi again, S.F.. Well, I am no bible scholar, but I see nothing wrong in ear piercing. If it isn't something that would cause you to stumble, and you want to, why not? Also we are not supposed to judge, right?
ohhh!! Good question!!

hEY Guys, well Like one of you said we are a temple of God and we are suppose to keep our body holy but but i mean if you feels it is right then go ahead and do it but you should ask god, becuause the holy spirit well let you know. The bible says to keep your body pure of worldly things.
Well... O think that piercings r ok.. but only if it is your choice. Some people wear them just because soemone else is and I dont think thats right. Also if it does not affect or hinder your relationship with God then I guess thats ok 2. Your body is a temple of God but why is ok for a girl to have an ear piercing and not a guy??? Plus we decorate our bodies with clothes and accesories, a piercing is just the same. But the question is does it honor God? Well u wouldnt wear skimpy clothes or stuff like that so as long as the piercing is respectable to yourself and God I say go for it.
Personally, I think it is wrong to pierce your ears or any part of your body. I'm not condemning anyone, don't get me wrong but in Leviticus 19:20 says "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord." Just think of it as this...Did Jesus Christ as himself have any piercings? Remember, God is holy and pure.
Actually the verse is Leviticus 19:28. If you read it in context it also talks about not shaving your head, not tattooing and not trimming your beard. I really think we may be getting a bit legalistic here. I am going to do a bit more research, and I will post what I find out.

well here is my thing.. and lets not out draw this.. Deli says Christ didnt have any piercings.. thats wrong.. He did.. if you forgot he was .. pierced for our transgressions.... and now we are supposed to be like Christ.. no i cant pierce my hands..but i can pierce my ears..just trying to be Christ like
This definitely is an interesting topic. I have asked myself that same question when I have seen some of the Salvador members with earrings etc. PErsonally I don't like to see a guy with an earring. It is my personal feeling. I have been tought that a guy should not wear piercings. Also I have seen it as a fashion thing. I think a lot of people are doing it just to be in the fad. I say to always follow what the word of God says. "be ye not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." Be an individual and don't change who you are for anybody. Saying all that I agree with one statement by one of you, do not. DO NOT turn legalistic. I have learned in my life you can never judge a book by its cover. I have met people that on the outside they don't look like what WE perceive Christians should look like but they are more believers that the ones who dress the part. While I do not like it, I think what is important is that you give your life totally and completely to him and let his anointing flow through you. It does not matter what you look like on the outside. Yes still be an example because many look at us constantly. Especially if we are ministers. We may not agree through our personal beliefs but God still uses people just the way they are. Think of the song...."Come Just as you are, hear the Spirit call, Come just as you are, come and see, come receive, Come and live forever...." God bless all.
That is so true...Jesus' work begins on the inside, working on the outside. we all have our convictions that brought us to the cross. yet those were our convictions...for you, not for the person next to you. the holy spirit will convict them at their own level.
i remember my conviction of wearing blue jeans! i tried to place that conviction on my friends as well and it did not work. for me, blue jeans identified who i was before christ, to make this short, today i still can't wear blue jeans - i've tried and i feel so dirty, it takes me back from where i came and don't want to go- so each has his/her own convictions - if these guys don't have or feel that conviction - love them just as christ does! REMEMBER WHAT OUR BLESSED HOPE IS...
hey Bedia, hi, and thanks for replying. Well, one thing is for sure, I'm definately not junging. But thanks for you advice

THAT'S EXACLY RIGHT! So ear rings being a worldly thing, like you just stated, then should be put them in our body?

S.F., you're back! Since you raised this question, I have asked several of my trusted friends in church ministry, and all of them have said that ear piercing is not necessarily wrong. It has to do with WHY you do things...like others have said. I think we are misinterpretting scripture if we say that the Bible says not to. Where do we stop? Should women not wear pants? Should our dresses all be floor-length? No make-up? Etc......
Hey thanks for invastigating, I was kinda thinking something similar to what u said. God bless sister!

I can answer your question about ear piercings . I have come from a background of a legalistic mentality and was not allowed to pierce my ears, wear makeup, pants, or cut my hair. God has thankfully delivered me from this mentality. (and trust me if you're from this background, when you get out you know you've been delivered!) I have not left God and He has not left me, I'm just no longer under a legalistic mentality.(Does that make since?) Anyway, I said that to say this. If not careful it is SO easy to make Heaven or Hell issues over things not specifically stated in the Bible. But I believe I serve a loving God who would be clear about things that would send us to Hell. I know that there are several things in the Bible that are not mentioned that we know are wrong (aka drugs, revealing clothing) but we know those things have consequences. Piercing your ears does not have consequences (unless you are of the age where your parents can still tell you what to do or what not to do, and they have said not to pierce your ears, because then you have disobeyed your parents and that IS Biblically wrong.) I believe that it's up to yourself whether or not you want to have your ears pierced, guy or girl. I'm a girl and I have my ears pierced. It's not about being worldly, it's about something that I like and makes me feel like I look nice. I love jeweley. If a guy likes his ear/ears pierced and it makes him feel cool/nice, then he should NOT be condemned because someone thinks it's worldly. It's not like he's wearing a girl's pearl necklace (That would be really odd.) God knows our hearts and He knows our spirits. People can judge on the outside, but they can't see what's on the inside. We as Christians sometimes like to play God and condemn people for what we think is wrong. We are wrong for that. Why are we so judgmental anyway? Does it make us feel good? God says not to judge. Isn't that the bigger issue? I hope I've not offended anyone, but I had to respond. God has taught me a lesson on legalism. Have a blessed day, yours in Christ.
