God Bless You all!!!
I just want to say that SALVADOR is an amazing band. I had the previlege to meet the guys in their last concert in Tampa Bay and WOW these guys are so talented and best of all filled with love for JESUS!!! These guys are not stealing any music from anybody, remember they are fellow Christian brothers and WE Christians do not steal!!! They always say that the song was firts recorded by Los Lonely Boys and on their last CD they thank them for the song. It trully does not matter whether a band sings other band songs, as long as the songs are for the Glory of Christ!!! Some of the comments were pretty strong and I just wanted to say that Salvador is an amazing band and they influence a lot of people like me who just had the privilege to meet the Lord!!! God Bless you all....JR |

Hey there JR!
Way to go on your post! I totally agree with you (All except the being at their concert cos I've never been to one at all! Hahaha. I've got most of their CDs though!) on what you've said. I've been absolutely blessed by these guys. The fruit that comes out of their lives and ministry is good! I was quite disheartened by many of the posts on this particular topic but then again I guess everyone's entitled to say what they think right? But still, we in the Body of Christ should look to bless, encourage and build one another up right? Salvador - you guys rock! Keep lovin the Lord and serving Him with joy and gladness. You inspire me loads! God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever! AMEN! Gabrielle |

ahhh kids... if you only knew
i'd have to agree with Laura's post 100% (on a seperate note, why doesn't "salvador" come and leave a message on this forum? it looks as though they have only posted once here and that was to say welcome to the site. it would be nice to hear from the band and get their opinion on this) |

You know, I was just reading through some really old posts and thought, "WOW! Now that's a really good question....and a hard one to answer!" Does anyone really know for sure how FAR heaven is from us? Here's what I think: 1.) Not that far....if and when we pray, we are already there standing/kneeling/sitting in front of the Lord, worshipping and praising him! OR 2.) Can't be determined. From this standpoint (which isn't one of my fav's), everyone has their place and time, and once the Lord's completed his plans for you, you too will be in heaven, rejoicing because you are no longer suffering....in the blink of an eye! Don't get me wrong, I love being a part of this world, but everyday I think about what heaven is like, what true peace & serenity is like, and how amazing and mighty the Lord truly is. I know I can't wait to get there, but I also know that the Lord's not done with me yet! Man, I love this guy (GOD)! Sorry I haven't read the entire thread, just the first few posts........I actually like Salvadors version of Heaven better than Los Lonely Boys....first off I think the vocal is much better and the harmonies are just as strong. But what really makes thier version stand out is the addition of the acoustic guitar playing the opening riff throughout and the electric playing over it. Los Lonely Boys, while thier's is very cool and I love their musicianship, thier's isn't as "fat" as Salvadors.......Salvador made that song very "fat" especially with that extra guitar. I love it, it's a simply song, simply message but it's strong, we are actually considering using it in our Spanish worship service, we are gonna translate it all into Spanish. The guitar parts aren't that difficult, although on the bridge they have a strange little walk-up in the chord progression.....it's definetly got the "Latin" theory of music.....LOL

I heard the version of Heaven from LLB almost a year ago on Dallas' local christian radio station. I really liked the song and thought it was good that christian stations were playing bands that were well known in the secular community. This song made LLB famous. A few weeks ago the same station started playing the Salvador version and I was shocked. Why would they slight LLB and start playing Salvador's version therefore earning Samlvador a profit. I think it is a crime for artists to rip off other bands music, and not add or improve it at least. I have the same opinion about worship bands. Almost every band I like has hopped aboard the easy money making worship wagon such as Newsboys, Kutless, PCD. Has money become more important than making new compelling music and pushing the development of christian music? I have lost respect for the christian music industry. They have started to reflect the secular industry.

Well, I think it's great that the station in Dallas played the LLB version, but don't look at it as a slite to LLB that they play Salvador's version as well. LLB's version was their first single off of their self-titled album, so it would make sense that it would be played quite a bit. I am pleasently surprised that it got some play on Christian radio. Salvador's version was also the first single off of So Natural. Since Salvador is a Christian band, it makes sense that it would get played on Christian radio. Christian labels release these songs to the stations as a way to adverstize the band and the album. The Christian music industry is just that, an industry. They do have to make money. The artists need to eat. They're not in it for the money, and Christian artists certainly do not make nearly as much as their secular counterparts. If you're in music for the money, you're not in Christian music. That said, there is a market for it. Christians see that, and they feel they can use their skills at promoting for God. It takes money to run the industry. I understand that I may be rambling, but don't look at it as not worthy of respect. It's the same thing as a guest speaker coming to your church and selling his/her books and tapes. I respect your opinion, but don't count your chickens before they're hatched.

Actually, I think it was originally released under their recording. Correct me if I am wrong.

Obviously by my presence on this site I am unabashedly a Salvador fan and have been for years. I have never been one to attempt to judge whether someone is saved or not but if you ever catch VH1 "My High School Years: Hippies" LLB was featured as commentators on this special and I would say that I would deem them secular because 1)their musical genre not being Christian 2)because of the topics/comments they made/discussed. Granted LLB could have changed their lives since the taping of that interview and I pray that they have. But what I can say with confidence is that EVERY song on So Natural is amazing! God Bless

Well, as to Los Lonelyboys salvation, I can't answer to it. I do know that they profess Christ. I too saw clips from that show. They were talking about what happened to them back in the day. They may have changed their lifestyle since those years. Personally, I don't have a problem if a Christian drinks, as long as he does not drink all the time and to excess. I know I'm probably in the minority here, but that's cool. Willy, who's the they you're talking about? Los Lonely Boys' version came out before Salvador. Salvador's So Natural album didn't come out until November. I bought Los Lonely Boys during the summer, so I know for a fact that the Los Lonely Boys version came out before Salvador's.

ha why is it such a big deal? I'm from San Angelo (LLB home's town) I think Salvador plays it to glorify god's name!! I would be very gratefull if Salvador was to play one of my songs! All I know is that I've heard LLB play Heaven Live and I think Salvador plays it better! why does it even matter?.....
To Salvador- god has really been touching me through your music and siga adelante... Ser Fiel hasta la meurte y yo te dare la corona de la vida. One of the thousands of fans Dan...Bevins god has really blessed you with a very special talent take care of it. I'm paying for you all. |

OK I was just reading everyones comments on Heaven, here is the deal guys, get off Salvador's back cause they did not steal the Heaven Song from Los Lonely Boys. In fact Los Lonely Boys asked them to record the song for the christian charts

Hey Jen there is a difference in the song los lonely boys play it more rock and the best band in the world play it more awesome they play it pop well god bless you

Well when I met salvador I had asked them about the Heaven recording they said they were friends of Los Lonely Boys so I dont think they did anything illegal. The song has a good message no matter who sings it. Alot of Christian radio stations didnt want to play the Los Lonely Boys version because they sand secular music, so I think Salvador helped by allowing the song to get more air time on Christian stations.

I THINK THAT SALVADOR SHOULDN'T HAVE USED THAT SONG SINCE LLB IS NOT A CHRISTIAN BAND. THE BIBLE SAYS THAT THERE IS NO RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE LIGHT AND THE DARKNESS, THEREFORE SALVADOR SHOULD STICK TO WRITING THEIR OWN SONGS WHICH ARE AWESOME AND PLAYING THEIR OWN MUSIC. GOD WILL TRULY BLESS THEM THIS WAY
|
||||
|
wow .. I didn't know the guys had met the LLB.. |
||||
|
i cant see LLB and the guys running sround in the same circles enough to be able to call themselves friends.........
ther's a difference between "acquaintance" and "friend"......... |

I strongly agree with KnowOne. Very accurate!! ::applause::
As for Jen....what does it matter where the song came from? Whether it's from LLB, Josh Groban, or Joe Blow down on the nearest street corner, God can and will still use it to reach others for Him. Don't sweat the petty stuff, hon. It ain't worth it. God don't care. All He cares about is gettin His message out to the lost. And besides, it ain't none of our business who stole what from whom anyhow. That's none of our concern. When you allow petty stuff to get you riled, then you're allowin satan to steal your joy. Sugar, just sit back and enjoy the music AND the message that God's tryin to get thru to your heart. That's it. Don't allow anger in, where God's tryin to move, okay? Don't "expect more" more outta your fellow christians....but instead learn to accept them (faults and all) as they are. And above all else, pray for them. |

I know this is an old thread and most are probably cringing that it's back up.......I was just curious as to why my media player credits the song to Nic, then Henry and Jojo Garza......that's odd I'd say.
I love both bands, I prefer the Garza'a version better, mostly because I'm a guitar player and thiers is much more guitar driven. Anyhoo.......move along people |
