I'm curious too, considering that the remake of "Heaven" is still getting plenty of airplay on radio, why not a Dove Nomination for Song of the Year?? Could it be because the drummer of Los Lonely Boys was arrested for marijuana possession and it wouldn't be right to give a Dove to them? (the Writers of Heaven)
Salvador So Natural was released November 9, 2004. To be considered for the 36th Annual GMA Music Awards eligibility, the album or song must have been released between November 1, 2003 and October 31, 2004. for more info click here
I was thinking Heaven was released to radio before the cut off dates. Salvador's name (or Nic's) was in the preliminary list of eligible artists for a few different categories.
I noticed that there aren't really that many Word artists on the actual nomination list - I was really shocked to see no Rachael Lampa - considering she had an amazing year in 2004. Could it have something to do with all of the changes that Word has experienced over the past year? Who knows..
Now that you mention it, I saw their name on the preliminary list too. Maybe the GMA organization realized they missed the cutoff date of Oct 31st and pulled them off, who knows. I had read too somewhere where the head of their label was replaced earlier this year (January timeframe). that's too bad on the Dove Nomination, it would've been nice to see the band add another Dove to the one they all won last year. There is always next year I guess.
