A friend and I drove down from DC for the concert in Culpeper earlier tonight having never heard of Stellar Kart (sorry, guys). Regardless, it was quite a fun discovery. Awesome concert, all of you. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I look forward to hearing more of your music.

Anyway, quite curious, and because if I've learned nothing else from college, I have at least learned how to find out lots of information in a very short period of time (don't be scared, I'm not usually a stalker), I've been reading various things about the band. Point being, from what I can tell, the Tay/Brian switch is pretty sudden. Brian mentioned that he'd just joined the band, yes, but the change, for now, seems only at the concerts and not on promotional materials. Quite seriously, for all of my supposedly fantastic research skills, the only thing I know about Brian is his first name and that he plays the bass. As I knew that before leaving the venue, I'm spectacularly not impressed with myself. (And I truly do promise not to become resident band stalker. Honest.)

Yes, there is a question in all this. Is Brian permanently joining Stellar Kart, or was this a help-out-in-a-tight-spot sort of thing?

Just curious. If I'm being needlessly nosy, simply tell me to bugger off and I will. I'm considerate like that.

umm ya by the way this is brett the brother of brian who juss joined stellar kart. I can help you answer alot of questions. I am pretty sure that he is permanatly there.

This is Dave; I'm from Cedar Rapids Iowa where Brett (ilikestellarkart) lives.

I've known Brian Calcara (the fill-in bass guy for Stellar Kart) for many, many years and was a fan of his previous band, Ramshackle (see their old site at www.ramshackleonline.com). I've seen Ramshackle play in backyards and in the middle of streets, but who knew in '96-'97 when Ramshackle was just getting started in the Calcara's basement that Brian would get heard about and be playing all over the country, opening for Kutless with Stellar Kart?

When I talked with Brian (and Brett's) dad tonight at church, it seemed that the SK gig might just be temporary... (just for this tour?)... but that Brian was on-board for as long as the wave runs! They spent the night here in Cedar Rapids a few days ago and will back through Iowa tomorrow. I'll see if I can find out something more definite soon.

It was quite a stir at church to hear Brian was getting shipped out to go on tour! It was like he was being drafted... God's army, that is.

Well, I'm really excited for Brian either way!
