I just want to say that this song is absolutely amazing. So powerful. That said, this coming sunday is Armed Forces Sunday. One of our boys just came home from Iraq, after I don't even know how long - and we still have several over there. I am a soloist, and thought it would be very touching and poignant to do this song, even though my accompanist disagrees- saying the religious content is too much of an undertone, too "implied"... Not blatent enough for a church song. What are you thoughts? I think it is appropriate, as does the father of the boy who came home last week-who also happens to be our fill in Pastor. Should I ask another accompanist? I would love to hear your thoughts... I am trying to bring contemporary Christian music to our "conservative" congegration and continue to pray for guidance... Thanks for the great music!

This song totally moved me. I love the song. I think that it is one of the best songs in the world. I know someone who left his fiance to go to Iraq. It's really hard for them. Pry for all those in Iraq. Jesus Freak

Pry for all those in Iraq. Feel free to sing this song in church. Though the religion is just "implied" it is very approiate. It would be great to sing, esp. around Sept. 11. I love this song. I wish that i could sing it, but in my church, we only sing the "oldies", but goodies, the songs like Amazing Grace, so this song would be to "upbeat for some." Jesus Freak

One of my brothers(army) was in Iraq about a year ago, and my other brother(air force) has been to South Korea. The brother in the army got out of the armed forces.

I think churches have to start thinking "outside" the box in order to reach those people who don't already know the Good News; after all, isn't that what it's all about? Our church is using this song, along with a sign language interpreter who presents it beautifully, on September 11 this year. This song helps people come to terms with the reality that we are all facing these days. My oldest son is in the Army and leaves for Iraq in November, my younger son is a Marine, and will no doubt, have a tour in Iraq as well. This song presents a "happy ending" and if the Pastor uses it correctly, is a great testimony for the power of prayer, since the song states the mom prayed for her son every night. I'll pray you are able to overcome the "old school" thinking!
