Hello all!!!
I'm FINALLY free so I better start typing before I get interruped.....again!!
Monday or Tuesday of last week, I was told that George would be at a church in DC on Sunday (Dec. 12). Nobody knew the time so I was praying I would be out of my own church service in time enough to see him.
On Friday (Dec. 10), my sister-in-law told me that George was going to be at the bookstore down the street from where we live from 3pm-5pm. I was like THANK YOU GOD!! So, we decided to take our kids (that included my nephew TJ that looks like George) and we left our houses at 2:15 to get in line. When we got there and there were about 20 folks in front of us. About 5 minutes after we got in line, my mother shows up, which was really cool. My WHOLE family was standing in line to meet George!! At 3pm, the line was out of control and the little girl in front of us said "George is late" and all the kids started getting a little antsy. Well, there was a radio station there and the radio announcer came over to my family and asked if someone wanted to talk about George on the radio. So I was nominated to do so and I go to talk on the radio. A few seconds after that, I see this tall body walking and waving past me and I said "OH, that's George" IMMEDIATELY, cameras and camera phones were in the air and folks started clapping and crowding around. Once order was restored, he started signing autographs. We all decided that my nephew (the look alike) would go first. SOOOO, it's our turn and my nephew TJ walks up to the table. George looks up and jumps out of his seat and says "OH MY GOD, IT'S YOU, I SAW YOUR PICTURE, I NEVER THOUGHT THAT I WOULD MEET YOU IN PERSON, LOOK YA'LL DOESN'T HE LOOK JUST LIKE ME?!?!?" I think George was more excited to meet TJ than TJ was to meet George. It was GREAT!! Priceless stuff!! So he takes pictures and signs stuff for TJ (by the way, he signed his stuff "To TJ, MY TWIN, LOVE GEORGE HUFF") and talks to TJ and meets TJ's parents, younger brother and sister and they move on. Then it's my turn. I walk up to the table with my daugther and he talks to us and takes pictures and he's still talking about TJ. And I tell him that I'm TJ's aunt and we are chatting like we have known each other for YEARS. Then I introduce my mother to him and he talks to her like he's known her forever too. She was like a kid in a candy store. She HATES American Idol but she watched once we told her about George. So then we all leave together smiling and talking about the wonderful moments we spent with George and laughing about George's reaction to TJ. We get out of the store and my nephew says "You will now address me as TWIN"
It was great!!!! I sent Ann some pictures from Sunday.
George is a wonderful, warm person and I am so happy that I, along with my family, got a chance to meet him.
