Ok, guys. Sorry it has taken me so long to get this to you. I know some of you have been patiently waiting for the whole scoop. I will post it on myspace too.
So, George was performing at an NBDL game in Fort Myers, FL on Nov. 25 and 26. The NBDL is the minor leagues of the NBA. On Friday he was supposed to sing the National Anthem. I couldn't go to that game, but I am sure he was great. On Saturday, he was giving a post game concert. Well, of course I had to work that day, but Ben and I drove all the way down (about a 4 hour drive) after I got off. We watched the game, which was great because we love basketball.
But then it was time for George!!! I had brought along my cd and one of the posters that the street team had sent out (I had to keep one for myself

). George was out on the basketball court and he started to sing. A lot of people left after the game but there were quite a few people who stuck around to see who that George guy was. He sang Real Love as I was trying to get closer to the front. I knew he would see me waving my poster, plus I was wearing a sparkly gold top (no one could miss me - lol). Well, he did see me and pointed at me, but I don't think he recognized me. He sang Bounce and the basketball dancers had a routine that they did to the song. To be honest, I never even saw them because I could only look at George. I was singing along and he saw me singing and waving my poster and he kept smiling and pointing at me. He sang some more songs and then he came to Brighter Days. He had the whole crowd clapping and dancing - I was singing and dancing and clapping too. HE then pointed right at me and motioned me to come onto the court with him. I nearly died. I walked onto the court and he gave me a hug and told me to keep the crowd going. I think I was in a state of shock because the picture that Ben got of me up there is horrible. So, he ended with Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. He brought up the kids and sang to them on the floor. It was so cute. Unfortunately, they cut him off and he couldn't sing anymore songs. I know George could have gone on for another hour but it was time to go.
George did a meet and greet and a lot of people were buying pictures and some cds for him to sign. Up to this point, I don't think George recognized me. As I was waiting in line, I could see George and he kind of looked at me and I could see that he was trying to process who I was. Then, when I was next in line, he looked right at me and stood up and said "I know you" and he got all excited. I said yes, but finish with the little girl in fornt of me first. So, then it was my turn and he said "I just saw you didn't I?" and I said "Yeah, I saw you in New Smyrna Beach last month". Then I said "You recognize me, but do you remember my name?" He laughed and couldn't remember, but the second I said it, he remembered instantly and remembered exactly what I gave him for his Gift of Joy project. We had a nice chat. I told him that Staci was sorry she couldn't make but that it was too long of a trip. And I told him that he would get no more brownies from Staci because he wasn't in Dallas when she was there. He nearly died laughing. He signed my poster and talked to Ben too and he also signed my cd cover. We really had a good time and I was sad to leave but there were still many other people waiting to talk to George. He gave me so many hugs. My day was complete and happy.
I know that all of you who have met George knows what I mean when I say that he makes you feel like the only person there. I love this man more than I can express. He is so special and I am so proud and happy to be called his friend.
I will try to post some pictures, if I can figure it out.
