Today my mother and I went to Centenial Olympic Park here in Atlanta to see George perform. We got there just after 3pm and it was c-c-cold!! We were talking to a stage hand about what time George was coming on when I noticed a car pull up. A tall man stepped out and I said, "Isn't that him right there?" And before I knew it, my mom was making her way towards him. I was right behind her and I yelled, "George!" He turned and put his arms out as if we were long lost friends. What a guy! We told him how much we love him and how we rooted him on AI. He gave each of us hugs and asked our names. Some other fans came up to him and there were two little girls. George seemed thrilled about us fans and he kept saying, "Look at the kids!" I asked if I could get a picture with him and he said sure. My mom and I got on either side of him and smiled away. He stayed for awhile just chatting with us and giving lots of hugs. I told him how much I love his bounce when he sings and he said we'll be seeing a lot of that tonight. :0) Someone from his crew came over to talk to him so we stepped aside. I then thought of my sister-in-law, who is also a big fan. After George was through talking, I asked him for a favor. I told him about my sister-in-law and asked if he would say hello to her on my video camera. He didn't mind at all. He gave a wonderful message to her. I couldn't thank him enough. He then had to leave to do a sound check.

We were front and center for the sound check. He only did a bit of each song, but it sounded great. He was a lot of fun while he was rehearsing, talking to us fans. We kept on yelling, "Sounds great!" After he was done, he went to say hi to some more fans. He really took his time with them all, which is so nice. As he was heading to get warm, he shook people's hands, waved and had the biggest smile on his face. You can't help but love him.

Fast forwarding to showtime...he sounded GREAT! What a voice he has. He sang each song from his EP. My favorite was Go Tell It On The Mountain. He was so full of energy singing that. A lot of bouncing! My mom was bouncing along with him and he kept pointing at her and smiling. I bounced a bit, but I was holding a video camera and didn't want to get motion sickness while watching it later. Haha. Before starting another song, I yelled, "We love you George!" He asked who said that and I raised my hand and said, "ME!" He giggled and then said, "I love you too!" :0) His performance was too short, but it was still wonderful.

After the show, we wanted to try to get the cd signed, which my mom bought just before the show started. There was a crowd forming on the side of the stage and George was doing an interview for the local news. We told his people how much we enjoyed the show and how wonderful George is. They thanked us for coming and for supporting him. They noticed we had a cd and asked if we'd like George to sign it. As soon as George was done with his interview, they tapped him and asked him to sign the cd. We told him his performance was awesome and he kept saying, "Thank you", with a big smile.

What a pleasure he was. He really seems sincere and a real gentleman. George, if you're reading this...THANK YOU! I wish you the very best and I cannot wait for your full album.

Thank you, Janet, for sharing. A wonderful, descriptive post. I envy you. I wish I could have been there. Perhaps one day I will be able to see him perform. I did go the AI tour this past summer but I want to see George perform more than two songs. Again, thanks.

What a sweet meeting with George. He IS a real gentleman. When my husband and I first met him after the AI concert in Oregon, he was calling us Mr.and Mrs. Wells. I told him, "George,I am not THAT much older than you. You can call me Alana." So the next time I saw him, he did!(And yes, Alana, my name is Alana too! Nice to meet another George fan named Alana. I wonder how many of us there are? Big Grin

I met George Friday night at Stonecrest Mall in Lithonia. We were treated to a mini-concert and a CD signing. I loved George when he was on AI, so imagine my excitement at meeting him in person! He is exactly as he appeared to be on the show--very, very sweet, kind and patient. He gave me hugs, thanked me profusely for supporting him and gave out hundreds of blessings. After meeting him, I love him even more! He must have signed CDs for over an hour because we went shopping after his show, but when we returned to Parisian's to leave, he was still up there, signing CDs. I can't wait until his full album drops in the summer (which he confirmed). As I told George, I will be the first in line to get it! George is not only extremely talented but is a true class act.
