Hi Ya'll Smile
I've been lurking here a bit, enjoying your posts and finally have something to add. It could be lengthy but it's because I am so excited. Please forgive me if it is.
My best friend and I went to see George last night at his performance in Knoxville, TN. I had heard how wonderful he is, had followed (and voted my fingers off) for him on AI last year and I was beyond thrilled to see he was coming here. Nicole C. Mullen was the headliner so George performed first. Man, oh man what a voice. He is unbelievable live and AI did no justice to his range, certainly not to his passion. He did about 7 songs, brought children on the stage to perform with him...he chatted with the audience and infected us all with his optimism. I was moved to tears. I wanted to stomp when he had to leave stage. Frown We knew he would be doing a meet and greet after and went outside for fresh air and a walk during Nicole's performance. Lo and behold, as we walked the lot, we spotted George, all by his lonesome, through a window on the side of the building. After working our nerve, we banged on the door and waved. He came over to the door and we were yelling through the glass at him how we loved him, how handsome he looked *and boy was he handsome!* and more. He put his hands on the glass and was yelling sweet things back and was teary eyed. Can you believe that? What a humble, beautiful human being. I felt like nothing next to his positive spirit. He is an absolute angel. He was making the *shhh* symbol and he looked around as if security would catch him, then opened the door and hugged us both so tight and sincere. Here he is, this fabulous talent, a celebrity and he was humbled by fans. He signed a picture and we left. Nicole performed over an hour and a half while we waited in the lobby to be near the top of the line just so we could guarantee meeting him. I would have waited 5 hours. When he came out, he was hugging everyone, teary eyed again, so very vulnerable appearing and so, so joyous. He let us take pic after pic and I asked him if he could speak to my 7 year old daughter on the phone, who is a huge George fan, as well. He talked to her for I bet a full minute *the patience of a saint...LOL* and my daughter walked on air the rest of the night. We got pics together, autographed CD's, etc and he thanked us several times for coming, for our compliments and asked us all to keep him in our prayers. If George ever gets away from the star status, he needs to be in front of his own church because no truer infectous, positive spirituality ever existed. I have met several celebrities but only George took my braeth away like that and kept me in awe. The man is beautiful, inside and out. If he ever reads these boards, I hope he knows that he made our year and made us George lovers for life. I knew he was wonderful but had no clue how far that extends. Thanks for letting me relay this and thanks for having this board. If it weren't for this website, I'd have never known he was in town. If he comes anywhere near your city, run, don't walk to the date. Smile When pics are developed, I'll have them uploaded. I wish him the utmost success.
Brenda in TN.

Hi Alana,
I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I was worried that I was rambling but I was just so happy. I am going to ask my g'friend about the songs. It was an all gospel set (I still would have love to hear "Sittin on the Dock of the Bay." Smile I sound clueless but honestly, I zoned out when he was on that stage, was just crying and wasn't familiar with any of them. She will know. I know he went back to a song that his grandmother used to sing in the church and that one brought the audience to their feet. Simply amazing. Oh...just called her. She says she is unfamiliar will ALL of the songs he performed. She grew up Southern Baptist and says they may have been personal songs he had written or just lesser known ones. I should have thought to take note. My apologies.
