In times of disaster, we all want to help. I have seen this in so many areas of the country. I live in the Houston area where a LARGE number of evacuees have been relocated. The Red Cross is specifically requesting that you NOT donate goods. There are reasons for this; material goods take manpower to sort, and are expensive to ship. The Red Cross does not have the time or resources to handle this at this time. Cash donations are being solicited. Every dime helps. The schools here are getting involved (dimes for disaster cans sit in every school lunchroom), even the youngesst American can do something. Jill, Daniel and I have taken an evacuated family into our home. Yes, it is only one family amoung thousands, but we felt we had to do our part. There are MANY worthy organizations you can donate to, and the MOST important thing we can do as Americans...stick together and keep these victims in our thoughts and prayers.

Scott and Jill...
I love you guys! Somehow it doesn't surprise me a bit that you would open up your home like that! There is much being done all across our nation to help...I'm sorry that it is taking a long time, but help IS on the way.. God Bless you all.

We are not noble. It is amazing to see the outpouring in the Houston area. These people have been through SO much, I admire their neverending courage and I am proud of my city for welcoming them.
America is a great country!!!

Scott way cool what you did for that family. I bet you they will never forget your generosity and one day i could see them doing the same for somebody else. The kindness of strangers is something to behold and should be done more.

By the way, Shelley, I know you would do the same thing if you were in a geographical position to help! We love you guys too!! We have been through SO much, evil has tried to tear our group apart and we have hung through it all. One of those people has faded into the woodwork (although one is still around and still associating with her new site), but true friends remain true and I thank God every day for you!
By the way, we have been SO blessed by this family!! They are wonderful people, although I think Daniel will be spoiled rotten before they are able to return home. The grandma cooks a mean gumbo too Smile

wow what an amazing thing you are doing Scott, Jill, and Daniel......WOW is all I can say.

I definitely try to focus on beautiful stories like this then all the negative on tv....America, overall and its people are so giving and really pull together when the hard times come along, thats what really is beautiful about this country.

My family and I are getting involved in some local things to help out with the relief. They said on my local news that my area alone has raised over 100,000 for hurricane relief....IMAGINE if every area did the same....this will all turn out just fine!

I LOVE YOU ALL!
