I have been talking to this kid for years...trying to get him to see how much God loves him, cares for him, wants to be a part of his life. He is so evidently hungry, so aware of the fact that he is missing something in his life...I think he's starting to get it. Here's a poem he wrote: (it was so good so I had to post it)

Faith, the little voice which echoes in your head.
Faith, the smallest prayer or a piece of bread.
Faith, the brightest sun in the darkest night.
Faith, the truth that's hidden, barely out of sight.
Faith, the holy symbol or the holy word.
Faith, the tiny dagger, or the giant sword.
Without Faith in something, life begins to fade.
With only Faith in nothing, can your soul be saved?
Saved from the ravages of a troubled life.
Saved from the sharpened point of a steely knife.
Saved from the darkness, brought into the light.
Saved from the shadows, lurking in the night.
Only truly faithful are the truly strong.
Believing in the one thing that makes their life go on.
Salvation or damnation? This is faiths reply…
Only truly faithful never truly die…
