I can't remember if someone posted this or not, but it's cute so check it out:

http://www.tennessean.com/entertainment/music/archives/04/08/56204593.shtml

Nicole is asked who she thinks are the three most attractive people (men, presumably) and besides listing her husband, she names three others.

Assuming, like Nicole, that my husband is really 1-3 "cause ya'll ain't goin' to get me in trouble." I'll stick to the realm of "celebrities," in addition to sticking my neck way out and name my alternate three:

Michael Caine- because like Nicole said of Sean Connery, "He's old but he's still got it going on..." Plus, I read his autobiography and fell in love with him as the good-hearted-ether-sniffing Dr. Larch in The Cider House Rules

Gerard Butler - Oh wow. That's all I can say. It might be my whole Scottish heritage stirring in my subconscious. Check out Gerard as the phantom in last year's film version of ALW's The Phantom of the Opera, and even better, the beautiful indie film Dear Frankie where he's known simply as, "the stranger."

Tobey Maguire - I have to stick him in here because he looks like my husband looked about 40 pounds and 20 years ago. Tobey Maguire in Spiderman, (1 & 2) Tobey Maguire in The Cider House Rules, Tobey Maguire in Wonder Boys with Michael Douglas, and Tobey Maguire in Seabiscuit. Take your pick of Tobey.

Ok first off Nicole knows how to save herself, gone lil sis.

Now second, imma have to holla at her privately cause she done named two of my favorite Men, Mr. Justice and Mr. Washington. Lawd Hammercy!

I love this guy name Michael Swan, so what if he is a soap star(Duncan Mckechnie), I sooooo wanted to be Jessica on ATWT.

I would watch baseball all day if David was to play, shoot might even swing at a few balls if he showed me how, ok imma stop.

Denzel is just awww man, it's his voice mostly. I just think he could say anything and I would believe it if He just spoke it. I think I have mainly seen all his movies but, Mississippi Masala and The Mighty Quinn I will always love.

Uh, Kayla's dad?

*Lucie Manette looks perplexed and demure as she tries to conjure up a memory of one her high school friends fathers that might have been an object of, in terms of appearance, uh, er, ahem "physical admiration"...is unable to think of a single one.*

Gerard Butler is so hot he's smokin' like Anakin Skywalker's flesh on the lava planet after Obi Wan cuts his legs off.

(*Lucie has a sudden Monty Python memory of another knight with arms and legs cut off and chuckles.*)

Kiersten, you MUST see, order it if you have to, (or just subscribe to Netflix like me.) Dear Frankie. I promise you it's G. Butler's best movie role so far.

Kayla's dad?

Oh, I almost forgot...

I think my favorite G.B. moment in Phantom of the Opera is when Christine kisses him and he cries and lets her go.

I also love the whole "lonesome gargoyle" moment. Not many people can sing a word like, "gargoyle," with such panache.

matthew mcCaughy is really hot!

Especially when he's naked, high, playing the bongos and getting arrested?

I'm sorry, Meg, I couldn't resist. It was all over the papers a few years back and now, although he was really wonderful in Amistad, whenever I see Matt, all I can think are the words, "naked" and "bongos." Somehow, they don't go together well.

Kiersten, it's not "gobbly gook," it's a skin disease that the phantom has on his face. Christine kissing him, even with all the
"gobbly gook" on it, is her way of expressing her unconditional love..she accepts him as he is. I mean, this is a man no one has touched -according to the film- since he was a child. It's a very significant moment in the movie.

But even with the gunk, he's still hot. I'd have kissed him for sure.

"Prying Pandora" is a bit catchy too, don't you think?

Does Kayla's mom know that you think her dad is hot? Sorry, that should have read, "you think Kayla's dad is hot?"

Does Kayla think it's a bit weird?

Calm down Cece. No one is talking about anyone currently being without clothing. I was merely reporting that one of Meg's objects of admiration was arrested several years ago in a well-known/Jay Leno/"what were you thinking" type of thing...

Kayla's dad however, now that's another story. I think some of the more anchored folks on the board need to reel Kiersten in... (just kidding Kiersten!) Smile

Well, truthfully? Yes. There was my 5th grade Sunday School teacher.(he was a football coach) He was, still is, according to my older sister who visited my parents' church recently, really fine...

But I turned 21 (20 years ago) and dated a few older men and was forever cured of the whole older man thing.

I vowed then, to never stray too far beyond the four-years-give-or-take, mark. It served me well. My husband is exactly, four years older than I am.

*sincerely hoping no "older man" gets on here and rages against me for promoting "age prejudice" in romance, thereby impeding his supply of 22 year-old girlfriends.*

Kiersten, you know I'm just messing with you. And, not incidentally, I watched the "special features" section on the making of PTO...

The person who designed the phantom's "face," said she wanted it to resemble a skin disease. A person could be born with one of those as they are quite often congenital defects.(see documentary on "The Boy Whose Skin Fell Off" on The Learning Channel.") I was in the fourth grade with a girl who was born with no sweat glands and her face looked somewhat similar to the phantom except much, much dryer with scales all over her entire body and barely any hair. I'm sorry to report, that in 1973, few teachers and students were very sensitive and helpful. She came from a single-parent home and they moved frequently. But anyway...

Technically, the story of how the phantom became disfigured is up for grabs. There are so many film versions of the story with many different reasons. Being burned with acid by a rival composer is one of the theories in an earlier film version. In other words, he was a normal guy living above ground until that happened. ALW's phantom adds a new dimension with the whole Madame Giry (sp) rescue of this disfigured child. I haven't read the book so I can't comment on that except to say that in the "making of" section, Andrew Lloyd Webber says the book is "all over the place," in other words, not very good! He probably improved it tremendously.

Oh girls, I hate to break it to you, but "boys" do not become "men" around age 25, anymore than "girls," become "women" around the same time.

Here's one secret of life you shall soon figure out:

Some people get older, but never grow up.

Meg, I'm sorry about Matt and the bongos. Perhaps you should google it and read about it for yourself. But he is very cute and he was wonderful in several films like Amistad which I really love, and I realized, not so long ago that he's in Angels in the Outfield!

Nick? Jessica's husband? Well, yeah, I guess so.

As for Kayla's dad...

It is true that the very manly, hunter-conqueror types do hold a certain sway over women. I suspect it's the well-stocked freezer!

Venison burger, anyone? Smile
