I was at the Philadelphia, Women of Faith Conference this past weekend. Let me tell you, this was my second year in a row and I was blown away. See I don't normally listen to very much "Christian Based" music. I find myself board with the same slow tempos and the same basic sounds. But let me tell you... Nicole C. Mullen blew me away. She had me in tears, on my feet standing in the first row on the 2nd level dancing my heart out. And Nicole (if you read this), girl I'm scared of heights. The way I was feeling at that time... I could have fell and the lord could have taken me right at that moment… but everything would have been ok. Your empowerment of women and your love for your family knocked me off of my feet. Your performance with your daughter for "Black, White, Tan" had me emotional and yet, relieved all the same time. I’ve dealt with the issues of interracial relationships my whole life. Not only could I relate to your song, but you touched a part of my soul that I thought wasn’t there any more. I’ve lost so many friends and family members to my “interracial dating” and to hear your song… was almost like a “healing process” in itself. It is so awesome to hear a Christian Artist stand up and sing about something that affects “everyday people”. And you didn’t just sing that song… you and your daughter “SANG your Hearts out!” God bless you and your movement. Please keep the R&B beats and the Hip Hop feel with your dancers. Your songs are moving in more ways in one. As soon as I came home I bought 2 of your CDs, as well as, your Live from Cincinnati DVD. (This is actually my birthplace) I look forward to hopefully seeing you again at Women of Faith and I will definitely continue to listen to and purchase your music. From the bottom of my heart… thank you for being a Positive Christian Role model for all women… your music will help heal the hurt and disappointed women and will also help to re-establish the sense of “self worth” with just a few songs. God Bless you… please stay strong and I wish the absolute best in everything you do!
