Hey, just for a change of pace, who's been to the theater to see The Chronicles of Narnia?

Ummm I have been intending to go, but some one is supposed to give me the books to read first.
Do you think going without reading the books will still make for a good understanding of the story line? I have never heard of the chronicles until this movie came out. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. |

Don't wait to read the books, just go, go, go, and get thyself there as fast as you can!
Read the books after you've seen the movie. I've personally seen it (ashamed to say this out loud because it's probably such a frivolous expenditure) three times as of last night. First time was the entire family, even "Baby Sam" (she's a girl) went and slept in my arms for most of it. Second time was with me and the 2 oldest children. Third time was a "girls night out," date with my oldest daughter. (last night in fact, and we dined at a Japanese steakhouse before the film and felt very smug about it and not the least bit bad for the boys who were at home fending for themselves.) Tomorrow night, my husband is taking #1 son, and probably #1 daughter to see it for the final time (he wanted to see it again too) and who knows, maybe I'll go one more time... You have to understand, I was an abysmally, desperately lonely child whose time was divided between being alone, being with adults, and being with kids my own age who thought I was weird because I was around adults too much. I discovered this book in the 3rd grade and not knowing or realizing any of the Christian themes in it, read it over and over and over and over, feeling the backs of closets everywhere I went. It was the one book I wished with all my heart, could be true. How wonderful to grow up and discover that in a very real sense, it is true. And I have waited 32 years to see it on the big screen, and well done. (that BBC version was okay for it's time but it's nothing like the new version.) I wept in the theater in the first 30 minutes of the movie, and have wept each time I've seen it, although it's in different places each time. If you go, don't miss some very powerful but small details: Most notably, the White Witch wearing Aslan's mane around her neck and her eyes painted with his blood when the war begins. ____________________ Each of us is the result of a thought of God. Oh my I had no idea of the story line or anything and you giving me goose bumps now to see it. I know my son had every intention on taking his children cause he wanted to see it himself. I will now badger him into going and spending time with his dear "old" mom as well.
I want to really be able to get into it, so scooby might have to miss it, unless he sits with his dad and sit waaaayyyyyyyy away from them. I am still sure he will be screaming out my name though, lol. Kiersten maybe when you come next weekend we can go to see it. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. |

i saw narnia the night it came out...and CeCe...i haven't read the books and it make perfect sense to me...although i was fighting with children behind me who were kickin my seat...so i didn't pay alot of attention to the movie...but what i did see was awesome...i like the beavers....
Image is overrated if it washes off in the rain.. |

H4J, when you read the book, you'll like the beavers even more. The movie didn't have time to show or tell you in detail of the meal Mrs. Beaver cooks or how they explain to the children who Aslan is or why they know where Edmund's gone.
If you start reading the books and you like the beavers, you'll fall in love with Reepicheep. (a mouse.) He shows up in Book 2 (Prince Caspian) (in the old order, not the new order which has TlW&W as #2.) ____________________ Each of us is the result of a thought of God. Hey Lucie, RayShae is 7, do you think this would be a good series for her.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. |

Yes. My 7-year-old is reading the first book now. (which is technically the 2nd book in the new order but I'm getting tired of all that new order stuff so phooey on it.)
The books are very "British,"the kids drink tea and eat toast, eggs and fish for breakfast. They were written in the late 40s and 50s, but they are easy to read and utterly enchanting for the fantasy genre. ____________________ Each of us is the result of a thought of God. I was going to go see it tonight with a friend from high school...BUT he's more into the horror scene (which I am not good with at all and spend the whole movie hiding under some article of clothing so I don't have to see it, Kayla can testify to that)....
So we are going to see a movie called Hostel instead...don't know much about it...buuuut, idk. Yeah, let's go see it when I come Cecenicole. Jeremiah 29:11 |

MEGGIE!!!!!
I'm surprised you haven't already been, or been with a group from your church. It's been heavily pushed like The Passion of the Christ was in most places. Even if you don't have anybody to see it with, just go anyway. Hit a matinee and sit close to the front. ____________________ Each of us is the result of a thought of God.
