hi nicole. i don't know if you remember meeting me at target in franklin the first night they opened. i had my 2 boys with me and you were so down to earth and real to us. living here i have met many "famous" people and none were as friendly as you. i don't normally don't do any type of public thing but i need your help. i am a student at belmont university. the sudanese ambassador came to the campus for an event that we had and many of us stayed for the first part but left in protest when he got up to speak. since then i have been trying to get signatures to petition the government to stop the genocide in darfur. though this has been going on since '03, i am amazed at how many people either don't know about it and/or don't care. i know you are active with a group that helps in ghana. i wondered if there was anything that you could do to bring attention to this problem. i know this is asking alot but my heart is heavy and i can't give up. i have a passion for africa and if this were going on anywhere else i believe that the u.s. would have already been involved. every moment that they sit around debating the situation, more people are suffering and dying. my husband is in the army and is getting ready to go back to iraq for the 3rd time (once was in the '91 gulf war). although we know we are helping people in iraq, he is ready, willing, and able to go to sudan. please let me know if there is anything you can do. thank you for your time. kim lewis
