Mrs. King passed away early this morning.

I know I have been watching CNN most of the morning. I had always wanted to meet Mrs. King one day. I did not get a chance to visiter the king tribute center when I was in Atlanta when my group went cause I had rehearsals for the play.

Man this is... Idk I really can't explain it.

Thanks for posting this Lucie, I was gonna but did not want anyone to ask, Who was she? I probably would scream.

Oh Cece, I couldn't not post it.

CSK is one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. She has a distinct "old soul" look, like one born to bear so much pain and yet has done it with such grace. You've probably heard much of what I've heard this morning since CNN is based out of Atlanta and I've been watching Atlanta news as well, and they've had folks like Andrew Young and various others calling in with poignant stories from her past.

Peter Parker and I were discussing what her life might have been like had she not married Martin and continued with her vocal studies in New England. In a way -a little girl power talk- she is perhaps the greater of the two because she was left with little children and a dream to continue. When most women (or men for that matter) would have folded up under the strain, the notoriety, the death-threats, the "daddy left us famous and poor," she carried on single-minded in her role as a devoted mother and the carrier of Martin's flame.

Awesome, awesome woman. I'm getting choked up just thinking about it.

ATLANTA - Coretta Scott King, who turned a life shattered by her husband's assassination into one devoted to enshrining his legacy of human rights and equality, has died, former mayor Andrew Young told NBC Tuesday morning. She was 78.

Young, who was a former civil rights activist and was close to the King family, broke the news during a phone call he made to the NBC "Today" show.

Asked how he found out about her death, Young said, "I understand she was asleep last night and her daughter tried to wake her up."

King had been recovering at home since suffering a stroke and heart attack in August.

She was last seen in public when she made a surprise appearance at a fundraiser on what would have been her husband's 77th birthday earlier this month.

She smiled from her wheelchair as she was greeted with a standing ovation and thunderous applause from a crowd of 15-hundred at the Salute to Greatness Dinner at the King Center.

Coretta King was a supportive lieutenant to her husband during the most tumultuous days of the American civil rights movement.

The Kings were married in 1953 and had four children, Martin Luther III, Yolanda, Dexter and Bernice. After her husband’s assassination in Memphis, Tenn., on April 4, 1968, King kept his dream alive by starting the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, based in Atlanta.

Do you see those beautiful eyes?

Old soul all the way...

*Lucie Manette wonders if people on the board know what "old soul" means."

An "old soul" is a casual expression new-age/brown-rice types use to designate someone who has been reincarnated quite a bit. It means with each reincarnation, they've fixed whatever went wrong in the previous life and they began to look wiser with each lifetime.

I'm not saying I believe in reincarnation because as far as I know, it does not exist. However, many many other cultures, including some very ancient ones, did and do believe in this which is why it's still around being talked about.

I just think CSK is so beautiful and her inner-beauty and dignity give her that "old soul" look. Looking at her face is like seeing all of her lifetime in a single moment, the joys, the sorrows, the anger, the forgiveness. It's truly a divine work of art.

I hereby formally propose Nicole write a tribute to Coretta....
