Nicole, I have not listened to top 40 christian music for about 10 years, back in the early 90's music labels became a generic cookie cutter christian music industry so I stopped listening and started hunting for real christian music. Found most of what I was looking for in the Praise or Worship aisle. Recently, several people have approached me and said "Valerie you have to hear this CD!" No, No, I would say. Valerie please just listen to this one. So I broke my own rule and listened to CD everyday people. Great Job Nicole. You broke my drought. I will now be hunting in the top 40 aisle. Incase you wanted to know my favorites on that CD, #'s 4-5-6, 9-11-12.
don't know if you'll check this post, but i just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in your search. while i am relieved that you are giving the top40 another try, i just want to caution you that some of the music can still be a bit ...disappointing. even so, there are a few artists who ...press the envelope and end up 'out of the box.' of course, nicole c. mullen is one of them.
from your post i thought you might want to check out another genre of music too. alberto & kimberly rivera go beyond praise and worship as usual; they enter into wonderfully melodic spontaneous and prophetic song. it ministers. you can find them at http://www.rainingpresence.com. i'd recommend the "draw near" cd as a first ...but their aaalllll gooood.
